Dream it. Say it. Create it. Repeat.
Live Dynamite is changing my life in so many ways. As someone who was in the throes of a midlife crisis, I was spinning my wheels and feeling like I was getting nowhere. Along came Maryanne, who encouraged me to dream big and dream out loud about the things that really mattered to me.
Within weeks, many of my “Someday-I’ll-Do-This-or-That” pursuits became actualized in the here and now: I had always dreamed of playing keyboards and singing in a band–Now I’m in a band called Spider Hole. I wanted to learn how to improvise and play jazz/blues on the piano–Now I’m taking lessons and doing just that. I wanted to be invited to serve on the editorial board of a high-profile academic journal–Now I’m on the editorial board of a high-profile academic journal. I wanted to lose 20 pounds–I lost 20 pounds. I wanted to be more patient with my three young children–Now I’m more patient with my kids. I wanted to run another marathon–Now I’m training for another marathon. I wanted to mend a broken relationship with a close family member–Now we’re talking and moving forward again.
I could go on, but you get the idea (and I hope I don’t sound like I’m bragging). The point is that Live Dynamite + Commitment = Success. Just about everyone’s got something they’re looking to improve, whether it’s being a better leader at work, incorporating exercise into a daily routine, or taking the risk of doing something you’ve secretly always wished you could do but never had the courage to try it.
Maryanne has developed a phenomenal set of tools to help enhance anyone’s life, regardless of age, intellectual ability, or socio-economic status. Also, as a professor, I’ve come to believe this program should be adapted as a required course for all college freshmen. What better way to help students discover their passions and decide where they’d like to go in life? With the popularity of “The Secret” and Eckhart Tolle’s “A New Earth,” the personal development industry seems very trendy these days. But I say, if awakening people to realizing their absolute highest potential in life has become “trendy,” then so be it. Everyone should be so fortunate.
Bravo, Maryanne!
